[The Wall Paradox

The Wall Paradox is a research project on the symbolism of walls in today’s
Europe. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the European Union has
erected more than 2,000 km of new barriers along its external and internal
borders. Sometimes presented as a symbol of freedom and unity, other
times as a show of action and strength, the motivations and narratives behind
border walls need to be questioned, prompting a broader rethinking of the concept of the nation-state.
