[The Wall Paradox] 2024. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the European Union has erected more than 2000km of new barriers on its external and internal borders. The Wall Paradox is a research into the symbolism of walls in today’s Europe. Either highlighted as a symbol of freedom and unity or as a pretence of action and strength, the motives and narratives behind the border wall have to be questioned and requires an overall rethink of the nation-state concept and our consideration of the other.
